Advanced Driver Course
OVERVIEW
Bespoke driving courses, tailored to the needs of individuals are available at any time of the year. After enrolment, you’ll be provided with IAM RoadSmart’s Advance Driving Course log book which contains all the theory. Weekly driving sessions using your own car, will be arranged with an Observer at mutually convenient times. All are Observers are volunteers who give up their free time to mentor you during the course.
For those who prefer to cover the theory with other like-minded individuals, you can attend our classroom ‘Modules’ in Elgin Library on Thursday evenings from 18:45 – 20:00 for the first five weeks of the course. New members find these sessions complement the scope of the Advanced Driving Course log book. The first drive, provides a taste of the course and takes place from 10:00 – 11:30 on the Saturday following the first ‘Module’. If you decide to continue, you’ll enrol on week two, thereafter, weekly drives are arranged at mutually convenient times.
Whichever option you choose to take, the course costs £200 and covers your first year’s IAM RoadSmart and Group membership, course log book, highway code, tuition and test fee. There’s no time limit on this course and you’ll be assessed continuously until you reach the standard required to take the test, which should be 12 weeks or less. However, your availability and that of your Observer, illness, holidays, weather and vehicle unserviceability, could extend it beyond 12 weeks. Whatever your situation, we will continue coaching you until you’re test ready.
